Embroidery, tapestry
Elvira Osmanova was born in 1961 and now lives in Simferopol, Crimea.
The master who knows everything about Crimean Tatar embroidery and works in absolutely all national techniques. She is a follower of the oldest hereditary embroiderer of the Crimea Zuleikha Bekirova (1913-1999), from whom she adopted the technique of the two-sided embroidery (“tatar ishleme”) and got knowledge of the Crimean Tatar symbol system “Ornek”. All embroiderers of the Crimea, who use this embroidery technique in their work, are in some way students of Elvira Osmanova.
The craftswoman creates both original ornamental compositions based on the symbols of “Ornek” and reproduces ancient works, showing a wide range of items — from decorative towels, elements of traditional wedding clothes, cases for the Koran, embroidered in gold, to decorative panels.
Another area of creative activity of the master is the creation of woven products — carpets and rugs, for the manufacture of which she personally dyes woolen threads with vegetable dyes
