Elmira Seit-Ametova
Fabric painting (batik)
Elmira Seit-Ametova was born in 1973 and now lives in Warsaw, Poland.
The artist is an expert in the technique of hot batik, which she studied at the Warsaw Academy of Arts, and later spent two years practicing with the best batik masters in Indonesia.
Elmira prefers to work with silk because, according to her, when painting on silk fabric you can get unpredictable effects and unexpected colors as a result of superimposition of inks, which creates some magic and mystery of the batik art. She also paints on cotton, wool and synthetic fabrics.
In her works the artist combines the Crimean Tatar ornament “Ornek” with elements of Indonesian ornamentation
