Zarema Mustafayeva was born in 1963 and now lives in Bakhchysarai, Crimea

Well-known master was at the origins of the popularization of the Crimean Tatar traditional embroidery technique – goldwork Mihlam. More than 100 embroiderers from all over Crimea consider themselves her students. 

Zarema learned the art of embroidery in the late 1990s from Aisha Osmanova, founder of the “Marama” creative association. She perfected her art by reproducing the embroidery of old Crimean Tatar applied arts. Mustafayeva's works are represented in the collection of the Bakhchysarai Khan's Palace. 

She learned the technique of double-sided embroidery from the famous Crimean Tatar embroiderer Elvira Osmanova.

Co-founder of the creative association “Evgiyar”, a member of the creative association “Marama”.

She pays considerable attention to the manufacture and embroidery of ritual objects, such as bags-holders for the Quran (Quran kap), elements of the Crimean Tatar traditional costume - cuffs (el kapak), headdress (fez), kisets, and also applies her skills to embroidery decorative pillows and decorative panels.

Zarema is a member of the creative association “Chatyr-Dag”
